i have some information that may help your side, as i too am doing a debate on the topic and on the negative side. schools are constantly complaining about lack of funding to buy such important things like books, sports equiptment, new desks, and various other things. they also complain about lack of staff to teach the students and in a result have raised the amount of students per class. with these facts in mind, how is the school board going to pay the average price of a metal detector ($2000-4000) PER DOOR in the schools AND have staff to maintain them? EACH metal detector requires a minumum or 2-3 people. And these staff need to be trained on how it works. if a metal detector is too sensitive it can be set off by a zipper. but if it isn't sensitive enough, a knife can pass through. and how are these metal detectors going to prevent the students from going through the metal detectors and then going to an isolated window and having a friend pass weapons though? i hope this could help you. if you need more help, feel free to email me and i can pass on some more information that may help you. my email is coffee_viper@hotmail.com
