Holding Up Both Ends of the Sky: Juvenile Justice Partners in Indian Country

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s (OJJDP's) Tribal Youth Program supports and enhances tribal efforts to prevent and control delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system for American Indian and Alaska Native youth. The Tribal Youth Program also provides mental health and substance abuse services to American Indian and Alaska Native youth.

This live, national videoconference will be broadcast from Window Rock, AZ, the seat of government of the Navajo Nation, and will provide an overview of the purpose, authority, background and funding for the Tribal Youth Program. Tribal youth programs currently operating in six tribes will be featured, and information on resources available to tribal youth programs, state and local policymakers and others working on behalf of tribal youth will be highlighted.

  • Showcase promising programs in OJJDP’s Tribal Youth Program
  • Highlight resources available to the tribal community

Audience

This broadcast is designed for anyone concerned with tribal youth, including tribal, federal and state policymakers; state directors of juvenile justice; judges; local community leaders; juvenile justice researchers; law enforcement; educators; school administrators; probation officials; and social service/child welfare officials.
